What a wonderful and meaningful event today! I want to take a moment to thank the incredible students from the United African Organization who came out to help with the cleanup. Your energy, dedication, and passion are truly inspiring. You remind us that the work we do today has a ripple effect that will shape the world tomorrow.
A highlight of the day for me was when we discussed microplastics, and I saw the students' eyes light up as they made the connection between plastics, pollution, and their harmful impact on the environment and human health. It was a powerful moment that showed how knowledge and awareness can lead to meaningful action.
While we didn’t have as many people from South Shore join us as we hoped, today’s event served as a reminder of how important it is for the community to come together and recognize that Rainbow Beach is more than just a park-it’s our backyard, and it’s worth caring for. We hope that this will inspire more neighbors to realize that we each have a responsibility to take care of the spaces we live in.
The students who participated today are the leaders of tomorrow, showing us all by example what it means to lead with action and take care of our environment. This cleanup was about more than improving the beach for today-it’s about securing a better future for our community.
Let’s keep this momentum going. We hope that more of our neighbors will join us in the future, recognizing that our actions today will shape the environment we leave for the next generation.
Easter Egg Hunt: Better Late Than Never!
After the cleanup, it was time for the Easter Egg Hunt-and even though we’re a little late to the party, it was never too late to have some fun! The Easter Egg Hunt may have happened after Easter Day, but hey, it’s never too late for the celebration of Jesus' rebirths-or, for that matter, for his "birthday reruns"!
Thanks to everyone who came out to join the kids in the egg-on-a-spoon race, bunny hop, egg decorating, and, of course, the Easter Egg Hunt! The joy was contagious, and seeing the smiles on the children’s faces reminded us all of what really matters-community, fun, and celebrating the moments that bring us together.
As for Easter reruns, maybe it’s just me, but I think Jesus would have loved the egg toss.
A special shoutout to my PAC colleague Shirley Jackson for her tireless work, creativity, and the joy she brings to everything we do. Her contributions are invaluable, and this event wouldn’t have been as successful without her leadership.
And a huge kudos to the Rainbow Beach Park Field House staff for always being there to support our efforts. Their dedication and hard work behind the scenes make these events run smoothly and seamlessly. Thank you for all you do!
